Let me reintroduce myself. Hi, I’m Sparkie!

Hello!👋🏽

First, let me thank you all for your continued support over the years! I have gone through so many iterations of this blog and content creation over the years and I honestly wouldn’t be inspired to keep going without your support.

To catch some of you all up, I have a background in political science and have worked in social justice for over fifteen years. I have a real passion for learning about systems and theorizing how we can address the issues. I went from posting long statuses on Facebook, to livestreams covering various political topics. However, in all honesty, it was very draining and as things have gotten worse in the aftermath of the 2016 election, I have found it difficult to hold space online in the same formats.

Over the last couple years, I have done some intense work on my mental health and found that it is much easier for me to talk about these topics while playing video games. I have been an avid gamer since I was a young child, and till this day gaming is a routine part of my self care. This new introduction to this blog is to marry my love of games, politics, and culture into a format that is easy for me to convey my thoughts. Gaming is something for my brain to focus on while talking on topics that otherwise, I find distressing, though I am passionate about them. This is also a way for me to stop standing in my own way and be okay with putting out content that is not “perfect.”

What should you expect from this?

I will be making more gaming content beyond Sims 4. While I like Sims, there are other games I want to explore. I plan to continue to have political conversations about the latest happenings in the world, while also incorporating life updates and mental health. In a nutshell, you should expect to see a much more authentic person.

So I invite you all to join me for another journey as I bring together the things I love and cultivate a space to have conversations. My goal is to share with you all my love for video games, political thoughts, and so much more. I am even planning on having guest appearances from others, so stay tuned.
